Disaster relief

Rotary Clubs of the St. Augustine area are collecting money and items to benefit the Bahamas.

This initiative is not short term as some islands were almost wiped out. Rotary clubs throughout the islands have been active or many years trying to address some of the most fundamental services the residents need. We've partnered with them before and they need us again. This time it is urgent.

If you aren't familiar with Rotary International, you are encouraged to check out the organization. It is a world wide service organization that has primarily been known on a global scale in it's efforts to eradicate Polio.

The Rotary Club of St. Augustine will celebrate 100 years of benefiting local charities in 2020 and has partnered with other clubs in District 6970 to raise funds for disaster relief.

The first $10,000 will be matched by the district so every dollar can be multiplied for maximum benefit. The funds distributed to hands on the ground groups and are exempt from burdensome taxes that apply to many organizations. One hundred percent of the funds donated will go directly for aid and any associated transportation costs of product. Most of the transportation has also been donated.

St.Augustine Area Ameris Bank locations will be collecting product and a special account has been set up. Deposits will be made to the Rotary Club of St. Augustine Foundation. Donation letters will be mailed on a weekly basis so please label your check Dorian in the memo section. The Foundation is a 501c3 organization so funds are tax deductible. If you prefer to use a PayPal payment system, the link is below. The funds will be routed through District 6970's functioning 501c3 organization - The York Foundation.
